Stopped here mid-day on a Tuesday a couple weeks ago and were pleasantly surprised. The exterior is not a good indicator of the food.
We had fish n chips, "Pasta Pescadero" and a cheeseburger and all were delicious. The view was great.

One guy was working as host and server. It was easy to get his attention since the place wasn't busy. He was nice and attentive. There
was live music, which was awesome. One guy playing guitar and other stuff. Blues, etc. I think he said he is there every Friday. The
Cajun Spinach Salad was delicious. The shrimp on top were huge and perfectly cooked. Another customer ordered a burger and it
looked reeeaaally good. The music and view of the ocean made it well worth it. I would recommend going here in a Friday evening to see
that guy.

Ate here today (a Saturday, which might matter after reading some other neg. reviews) for the first time on our way to Ano Nuevo. All of
our food was excellent. The artichoke dip was heaven the best we've ever had. The fries and chocolate shake were perfect, and our
sandwiches and burgers were great too.

Best Beef Burger I have ever had. I love this place. I was here on 1/10/2011 with Ian N. and we were both AMAZED at how good it was and
to hear that it is "hit or miss". We will be back some day and I am looking forward to it. AWESOME!!!!

I've been to Gazos Grill twice now. The first time was during a stay at the Pigeon Point lighthouse with my hubby. We'd gone there for
dinner. The place and the ambiance was like that of a comfortable, old, local restaurant bar with homely decors, an old piano and even
pool tables - a very calm and laid back atmosphere. We sat on two low, rocking chair type seats beside a lighted fireplace and it honestly
felt like something out of the older days. The food was good, if a little on the higher side but the girl who was our host was a bit indifferent
(rude is a harsh word). Even so...I really liked the place and the food. The second time I went back was the day before yesterday, with my
hubby and our friends. This time, along with the food, the service was also excellent. When we went in, the fire wasn't burning and when I
asked one of the hosts about it, she said it wasn't being lit anymore. I was a little sad, but another guy (a host) heard my query and
immediately said he could light it for us and he did! I was really touched that he went to all that trouble for us. Our host this time was more
than gracious and made us feel really welcome. Once again, I really enjoyed the dinner as did my other companions. I can honestly say
that I will definitely try to go to Gazos Grill every time I visit Pigeon Point. It's really a great place.

Best onion rings in CA!! Small place, usually one server working at a time (we've always gone for lunch, so not sure about dinner). Great
burgers (huge!) and the best onion rings I've had since leaving the midwest 8 years ago (the BEST onion rings in the country can be
found in Indianapolis, IN at Edwards Drive-In). Their salads are pretty good, too. Can't speak to anything else as we pretty much get the
same thing every time we visit.

Interesting reading about the hit & miss for Gazos. We must have hit it at just the right time. Arriving at about 3:30 PM on Sunday, my
partner and I both were immediately relaxed by the quiet relaxed atmosphere. A little Bob Marley in the background, fairly clean and
prompt and courteous service was nothing compared to the burgers we both had. I can't recall at the moment what my partner had but
she was as thrilled as I was. I had the 'Rip Tide' turkey burger and I have to say, that Rip Tide was the best damned burger I had in a
decade. I'm a bit bummed to hear that it's a hit or miss place because for a meal like that I would go out of my way to have it again. The
Onion Rings were cooked perfectly and weren't too greasy like so many other places. We'll be back to see how often we have a 'hit'.

I love this place! Every time we go to the beach we make sure to stop by for some lunch. The fries and milkshakes are delicious and the
staff is always nice. Also they are now serving sushi on Sundays, the boyfriend got a roll and definitely enjoyed it.

Great place! Funky and fun, with a great locals vibe, and even has live music. Get the fish of the day, which is always local and always
literally caught that day. Top notch!

Excellent place to eat! Must go! While on business in Palo Alto, I wanted to drive over and see the coast line after work. I searched for a
place to eat on HWY 1 between Santa Cruz and Half Moon bay and found Gazos Grill. The drive across La Honda Rd to get to the HWY 1
was incredible! I think I rear ended myself a couple of times the turns were so sharp. The coast line views on HWY 1 were more incredible.
Found myself stopping every half mile to take pics. Gazos Grill is a small place but very comfortable, great view of the sunset and the
lighthouse. Get there by 7:30pm as they close at 8:00pm. Order the Seafood Pasta and the homemade clam chowder if they have it, it
was excellent!

I had a really delicious avocado and mushroom burger here. The food was very good and the service was quick. This is a haven in the
middle of nowhere so it’s definitely convenient.

Best burgers in the world! We stopped there on our way from LA to SF and it was fantastic and quite cheap!

Perfect for day trip breakfast the location is within sight of the water. You can feel the ocean as you park. Inside, the ambiance is the
same. An early morning espresso, along with a hearty two egg omelette was just what I wanted. The food was tasty and the service was
prompt. After the meal, we sat in the middle room by a fresh fire and enjoyed the rest of the morning stop, chatting and sipping the rest of
our coffee. I would stop again for the food and the ambiance. And the prices are well matched for what you get.

This is my must stop on my motorcycle rides in the Santa Cruz mountains. I have only stopped in twice and both times I walked away a
happy camper. The 1st time I went with a group of 15 riders. The servers jump right on us bringing out coffee right away for all of us. The
outside seating was very cool and relaxing. I got a burger and fries and was recharged to hit the road once again. I was stoked that even
though the place was busy on a Sunday afternoon, the service was great!
The second time I stopped in for breakfast. The eggs and ham plate was very tasty, but once again the service was what stood out to me.
The server was a very friendly guy. He was asking questions about my motorcycle and gave me the friendly reminder to ride safe out
there.
I can't wait to go back!

I have been eating at Gazos Grill for about two years. I always feel very welcomed by the staff. I've found that the food is very good & the
portions so large that I bring some home. It's really GREAT home cooking. The service has also been wonderful. I enjoy hot tea & they
make sure they have what I like. There are several regulars who we enjoy talking with. I have always enjoyed my experience at Gazos. We
live in Santa Cruz, so it takes 30-45 min. to drive there. If the food & service weren't exceptional, it would be much easier to stay local. I
don't understand the negative reviews that have been written. I have never see dirt, insects, or dealt with bad service, or food that wasn't
good. It's true that sometimes they're very busy, but that just makes me happy, not grumpy. I know my food will arrive as quickly as
possible. Please check this place out for yourselves.

I've eaten at Gazos Grill alone and with various family members over the past few years since they re-opened. I think there's some
connection (owners) with a La Honda cafe too. Stellar home cooking is the norm here, like from ages past, before corporate formula
became the norm. There was a time (I remember) when little diners like this could be found all over the U.S. Any of the breakfast offerings
come with breakfast potatoes which are EXCELLENT. Portions ample.I've had lunch (burgers) and dinner too, and it's done right! The
atmosphere is campy and definitely coastal California as may be found from Carmel to Pt Arena. There's live music (check the schedule).
Wait persons are friendly and will go the extra mile for you. Sweet! Since they've gone to bottled water the coffee is great.

I live in Santa Clara Ca. and I ride in the coast mountain range nearly every week-end. I have eaten at many of the local eateries, and for
the past several years have eaten either breakfast or lunch at the Gazos Grill. I think the staff is the friendliest I have ever had the
pleasure of doing business with. I have always had a very welcome feeling at every meal I have eaten there. The food has almost
always been exactly as ordered (nobody is always perfect) and I would recommend this place to my friends for a pleasurable dining
experience.

I really love this place! I’ve been here numerous times after going for hikes along Gazos Creek road. The food reminds me of something
that I would get at my grandma’s house...real yummy homemade stuff! If you can’t find something on this menu that will make you happy I’
m not sure what would. There are at least 6 pages on their menu! And to you folks that are complaining about the cleanliness......it’s a
beachside restaurant, not the Ritz.

We stopped in there after a 3 hour hike at Ano Nuevo State Preserve where we had gone to see the elephant seals. All 6 of us ordered
different kinds of burgers, and I admit we were hungry, but all of us enjoyed them very much. The fries and onion rings were fine too. The
bathrooms and the place in general seemed clean enough to me and I am a self-confessed germophobe, (although not at the Monk
level.) A good place to stop by after Ano Nuevo or one of the many state beaches in the area.

This is a great family business, with a lot of character and friendliness. Usually it is just two people working (i.e. cooking, one server), and
you’re out in the country, so don't expect super quick service. Enjoy your time, relax, read a surfer magazine or the paper (you can even
fill up on gas if you want). Also this place supports local music on Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons and you can enjoy a frothy
beer or two (if your camping and walking back to Costanoa or the hostel by way of foot) Also the Butano State Park is about 3 miles up
the road (which is another gem with camping and loads of beautiful hikes) This place has an excellent basic breakfast, that I always make
a point of getting when I'm passing through or over for a surf. I like the basic two eggs (any style), great bacon (ad I'm picky about bacon),
with peppers salsa and great potatoes. I don't understand why people gave this place such bad reviews probably grumpy people in a
hurry....who are never pleased anyway....by the way every time I have visited(most recently about a month ago) the restrooms were very
clean....I say check it out for yourself. People are nice...Food good...View of the sea....not pretentious and it's not a trendy overpriced
breakfast place but rather a one of a kind grill that is worth trying!!!!

My handsome significant other and I stumbled upon Gazos Grill during a drive down the coast. It's a casual restaurant with a fun bar and
a funky atmosphere. I had the shrimp cocktail and it was SO delicious! I hope to return one of these days soon! :) May even check into
staying at the Pigeon Point Lighthouse across the way. I've heard they have private rooms and a hot tub that overlooks the ocean.

I’m not quite sure why everyone is giving this place such bad reviews....I’ve been here numerous times and have always had a delicious
meal and good service. I can understand that service can get a bit slow when it’s busy but that’s expected. I really like this place and will
continue to go there, especially for the fish and chips!
